Help Us Prevent Fraud
If you have information about fraud in the Hardest Hit Fund Program, please visit SIGTARP Crime Tips or call 1-877-SIG-2009.
IFPN and its partners offer foreclosure prevention assistance at no charge. It’s important to know the difference between IFPN programs and a potential scam.
Avoid Foreclosure Prevention Scams
Generally, you should:
- Beware of anyone who asks you to pay a fee in exchange for a counseling service or modification of a delinquent loan.
- Beware of people who pressure you to sign papers immediately, or who try to convince you that they can “save” your home if you sign or transfer over the deed to your house.
The Homeowner Protection Unit in the Office of the Indiana Attorney General investigates deceptive practice complaints, complaints of failures by servicers to honor national settlements, and housing counselor escalation issues.
